Carmen Rey-Gómez has twenty years of progressive leadership and achievement a variety of sectors including Higher Education, K-12 Education, Non-Profit Sector, and community development. In her various roles, she has achieved significant results that have helped to inform changes to programs, policy and strengthen community initiatives. A native of Hartford, CT she now makes Southwest Florida her home and has a strong reputation for collaborative work, coalition building and research and stewardship. Carmen has a deep and varied skill set in the areas of the recruitment, marketing and communication campaigns that maximize community awareness and information for families and youth; strategic planning efforts to implement innovative programming; thoughtful technical assistance and professional development opportunities; and data-informed decision making to provides strategic vision and direction for community efforts.
As a fully bilingual member of the community, Carmen Rey-Gomez has extensive public speaking and media-relations experience and has been a featured public speaker at many events throughout Southwest Florida. Most notably was the 2013 recipient of the FACE Diversity in Education Award and was selected as one of twenty-one local women highlighted in WGCU Public Media’s multiplatform project “Makers: Women Who Make Southwest Florida.” Carmen is sought after for her expertise to serve on various boards and committees, most notably she has served on the News-Press Editorial Board. She is a recognized leader in the fields of positive youth development, Higher Education and community organizing and development. She is also a business leader and entrepreneur, as the owner and president of Clear Options Consulting, Inc. where she provides individual and organizational professional development and management training, education and career guidance and she is also a licensed realtor.
She is a proud HUSKY having graduated with her Master in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Central Connecticut State University where majored in Spanish with a minor in communication. Additionally, she obtained her Associates Degree from the prestigious Hartford College for Women, founded by graduates of Mount Holyoke College & Smith College.
Carmen and her husband are raising two handsome boys, both of whom have enabled her to become familiar with all the various recreational programs in Southwest Florida. In her free time, Carmen’s favorite activity is painting, and with her active family, enjoying outdoor life in Florida.
